The donation was made to Communities In Schools of Pennsylvania, which currently serves 12,000 students in 21 schools, according to the release.
The donation is part of a larger gift of $133.5 million donated to 40 affiliate groups of Communities In Schools national, reports CNN.
“This is the largest, and most inspiring, donation in the history of our organization. These funds will allow us to broaden our reach and deepen our impact,” said Jenna Lewis, CEO of Lewis continues.
“There is still so much work to be done to empower students to stay in school and succeed academically, particularly in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This gift is a testament to our organization’s ability to achieve outcomes, even during incredibly difficult times.”
CISPA has not finalized its plans but hopes to invest these funds to "increasing operational excellence, building more sustainable systems and programs inside schools, conducting advocacy, and, ultimately, empowering more students to break through the barriers that they face both in and out of school," as stated in the release.
